Grumpy was so cute checking out all of my female snakes out in their new snake room I guess he's trying to sort through my girls and decide on one of them for his new girlfriend since his mate and 20 year companion Nosey passed away. He most definitely has his eyes on Lydia my Pastave female Ball Python that I purchased from Genetic Hunters a couple of months ago. Grumpy has definitely made a full recovery from his two month long mourning process over the loss of his companion and he's already looking for another one of my females by his choice to mate with however a Boa and Ball Python don't breed with each other it sure hasn't deterred his interest in Lydia.

The snake in this video is Chewy my big male Coastal Carpet Python that I've raised from a baby and he's 9 years old and a VERY social friendly snake that spends most of his time outside of his enclosure bonding with people.
To witness the individual personalities and behavior of your snakes you need to invest a lot of quality time with your snake learning from the snake about the snake and that's done through observation :o)

People always ask me why my snakes are so huge for the different species that they are and it's not because they eat big feeders or eat a lot in one feeding because they all eat frozen thawed rodents but the reason mine are all so large is because they are out of their enclosures at least three days each week and spring and summer I take them outdoors and allow them to roam around to express themselves freely so unlike fat lazy snakes that lay around most of the time my snakes are ALL very strong muscular snakes and are VERY active on a regular basis. They do have their quiet time in their enclosures to shed and rest and to digest food but other than at those times they constantly beg me to let them come out to have some freedom

If you stress out your snakes it makes it more difficult for them to trust you and other people and it's so wrong to push them into any situation that they feel vulnerable or stressed out and these actions are what normally makes your snakes defensive and sometimes aggressive !! If you want friendly social snakes you have to be patient with them and try to understand things from their point of view.
Snakes aren't evil regardless of their age or size but snakes that grow up in a stressful situation are apt to become aggressive which is of no benefit to the snake or to yourself because you are putting yourself in a vulnerable position when your snakes feel like they need to defend themselves ;(

I have a few of my snakes out of their enclosures at night before I retire for the night because it's the greatest feeling in the world to show them that they matter to you and that you respect them and it means so much to know that you are giving your snakes the best possible life that they can live in a captive environment :o) It feels so good to know that your snakes are healthy, content and all eat on a regular basis and have clean enclosures and always have fresh water available. I can't go to sleep at night unless I'm sure that all of these things have had my full attention and my snakes are secure and comfortable each night because each of my snakes lives do matter to me :)

I spend tons of time handling my snakes and to learn more about your snakes you have to observe them and their personalities and how they respond to different things around them.
In this video you will see Jasmine (My Caramel Coastal Carpet Python) out socializing with people in my family and when we put her back into her enclosure (toward the end of the video) she retaliated with a temper display showing that she wasn't pleased with being taken away from people but put back into her enclosure. Snakes are fully capable of expressing their feelings in MANY different ways and to see these changes and different reactions you have to interact with your snakes and invest quality time with them. There is very little you will learn about each snakes personality by sitting and looking at them locked inside of an enclosure because they aren't being exposed to anything in their environment nor other living things. Mental stimulation is a vital part of a snakes growth and development :)
