Busting Snake Myths
Snakes are the true teachers and educators and it's up to you how much time you are willing to invest with them to learn all that they can teach you.
Snakes that are social will work with you and not against you !!
People have spread so many myths about snakes and I made this video today outdoors with Chewy to show people how snakes REALLY act with people they have a close bond with and trust and have been raised as social snakes.
(1) If a snake is stressing out because you are handling it the snake will strike out at you and try to bite you and flee to get away from you. It won't stay close to you by it's own personal choice if it's stressed out or if the snake is merely because it's tolerating you !!
(2) Snakes aren't always close to humans because of a person's body heat because a snake that is still staying close to you on a 90 degree day outdoors surely isn't because it's trying to warm up by using your body heat.
(3) Snakes DO NOT size up food !! If a snake is hungry it will first bite to control a food item and then wrap and constrict it to secure it so it can eat it will greater ease!!
(4) Snakes most certainly aren't deaf and in this video (as many of my other videos) you will see several times my snake responding to my vocal commands and YES they can learn to respond to audio cues and routines !!
(5) A snake isn't always moving because it's stressed out if that were the case most of a snakes life it spends stressed out because any normal healthy curious snake will move around often and it doesn't mean the snake is stressing out but that depends on the person and how the snake is approached and handled !!

Jasmine just arrived this morning and she is a beautiful Caramel Coastal Carpet Python female that was produced by Living Legless Reptiles and I found her on Morph Market's web site. She was hatched out in July and I would like to thank Travis for sending me such a sweet gorgeous little girl :)

We had an awesome friend and guest for two days at my home Brian Kusko and he met all of my snakes and spent time with most of them one on one outside of their enclosures and they were very cool to make a new friend and warmed up to Brian really fast so that told me that they trust him and were totally comfortable with him with the exception of Jasmine my new Caramel Coastal Carpet Python female that wasn't sure how she should be acting so she tried to attack everyone LOL She finally calmed down so we had a great time just hanging out and talking about snakes and I was truly honored to meet a friend that is as passionate about snakes as I am so that really highlighted Brian's visit. He met my family and we hated to see him leave but he's on a journey to help educate people about snakes so it was a great cause and reason for him to visit friends and spread the love and respect for snakes :o) I felt bad that we couldn't take Nosey and Grumpy out but Grumpy started his shed and cleared his head off and as usual sat there waiting for me to help him finish his shed but Nosey was coiled up with Grumpy and being her usual protective self of her boyfriend Grumpy so I felt it was in our best interest to leave Nosey and Grumpy inside of their enclosure however Nosey did leave Grumpy's side long enough to devour a couple of rats LOL
Also in the video is my male friend and companion Dennis Herosia that I've been spending time with for the past 2 years and he's a really great friend as well :o)

So many people have asked me if I ever fear for my life working with big constrictor snakes so I'm making this video to help some people better understand my relationship and association with my big snakes and why I've always loved raising them and handling them and working with them and I absolutely have NEVER been in fear for my life working with big snakes :)
With handling and interacting with your snakes regularly over many years you learn to better trust your snakes and at the same time they are learning to trust you so there is definitely mutual trust that resolves any of your doubts about ever feeling threatened by your snakes or your safety !!

She is so dang cute and funny every time she falls off her hide she turns around and glares at me and she rules out that it was my fault that she fell so she turns and strikes at her hide LOL Today I made her a new one that isn't as tall so hopefully she can keep her balance better on that one Haha
Sometimes all it takes is a calm soothing voice to teach your snakes how to trust you :) Can you imagine how you would feel or any animal for that matter isolated in a box/cage without any contact with other living creatures totally isolated from everything else in their environment (world) ? They need to learn to be social animals and the only way they can learn that is if you are social with your snakes :)
Jasmine my new Caramel Coastal Carpet Python is learning to trust in leaps and bounds and I'm so very proud of what she has accomplished in such a short time here with me :)
Be patient with your snakes they have to learn new things and it's best if each new experience is a positive one for them :o)

I have a few of my snakes out of their enclosures at night before I retire for the night because it's the greatest feeling in the world to show them that they matter to you and that you respect them and it means so much to know that you are giving your snakes the best possible life that they can live in a captive environment :o) It feels so good to know that your snakes are healthy, content and all eat on a regular basis and have clean enclosures and always have fresh water available. I can't go to sleep at night unless I'm sure that all of these things have had my full attention and my snakes are secure and comfortable each night because each of my snakes lives do matter to me :)

I spend tons of time handling my snakes and to learn more about your snakes you have to observe them and their personalities and how they respond to different things around them.
In this video you will see Jasmine (My Caramel Coastal Carpet Python) out socializing with people in my family and when we put her back into her enclosure (toward the end of the video) she retaliated with a temper display showing that she wasn't pleased with being taken away from people but put back into her enclosure. Snakes are fully capable of expressing their feelings in MANY different ways and to see these changes and different reactions you have to interact with your snakes and invest quality time with them. There is very little you will learn about each snakes personality by sitting and looking at them locked inside of an enclosure because they aren't being exposed to anything in their environment nor other living things. Mental stimulation is a vital part of a snakes growth and development :)
