Bringing in 4 new baby Pastave Pastel Ball Python babies to my snake family and next week the other three will come in. This video shows all four of the baby brothers that will be here by the end of next week :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BbkS...
I already have the first of four babies but the breeder is getting rid of some of his snakes so I told him I want the other three babies from this clutch because I want to keep all four of the babies together and give them a great life and a great loving home :)
I will be making a follow up video when the other three new babies come in and I would appreciate some name suggestions for the new babies from all of my friends :o)

I've heard this tale for so many years it really amazes me there are so many people that actually believe snakes size people up with intentions of eating them as well they size up all living creatures to see if they can devour them as food !!! I do't know where people get these ideas from and what's worse is there are animal vets that also pass this information on to snake owners !!
In this video Apollo my new adopted cat got to meet Chewy my 11 foot Coastal Carpet Python and he's very curious about my snakes so I feel in time with a lot of dedication and supervision my two new adopted cats will accept my snakes and my snakes were best friends with my cat Deffer for 15 years before she passed away and they have constantly searched my house for her so I felt it was time to bring another cat into my home for my snakes to bond with in time.

I had Chewy outdoors when the tree cutting service was here and raised their bucket and crane and started up the trucks and Chewy came flying across the yard and went straight up the front of me and hid his head in my hair and clung to me and wouldn't let go of me for anything until the machinery stopped running !!! Proof enough that our snakes feel safe and secure near us and close to us not because they are ONLY tolerating us and tolerating us handling them !!!
Three months non-stop work all for my snakes !!
Two different tree cutting services here to take down all the tall trees around my house to insure I have no further concerns with 100 foot trees dropping onto my house especially since I've just had my entire house faced off with new rough cut white pine boards and I'm having a new outdoor snake enclosure built for my two (male and female) Argentine Boas, Also had a cleanup crew here helping keep everything cleared out after all the work.
At the same time all of this has been going on my house has been and still is being completely remodeled by my contractor Roberto Taylor and his son to make sure I don't have anymore water lines rupturing during the winter and I will always have heat in my house when we lose power. Also adding a BIG snake room addition onto the front of my house.

Also having a HUGE pole barn put up for my son Eddie Combs because he is a mechanic and needs the building to store his antique vehicles in :)
Special credit to all of my friends that have raised snakes for MANY years and are teaching others through their own experiences with their snakes that snakes aren't vicious mean animals but in fact are very social and people friendly animals if they are used to human interaction !!! I've learned so much from so many amazing people but most of what i have learned about snakes has been through my own personal experiences and from my snakes themselves that are the greatest educators of all :o) To all you snake keepers out there that are helping educate others about snakes you have my utmost respect and always will have !!

There is dialog into the video displaying the close relationship that I have with my snakes and why my huge constrictors are gentle giants and don't display aggressive behavior.
It takes dedication and interaction between you and your snakes for them to learn to trust you and for you to be able to be close to them without them feeling threatened, vulnerable or without them stressing out. This is really advantageous when it comes time to feed them because with that bond of trust they don't feel like you are going to try to take their food away from them and they no longer consider you a predator because you are near them when they are eating and this greatly reduces your snakes feeding aggression when they don't feel stressed out but instead they are calm and relaxed in your presence.
I made this feeding video to show people how calm and laid back snakes can be that have a social relationship with their handler and why it's important to maintain a close bond with your snakes on a regular basis.

Finally after a year and a half of spending a LOT of money and dealing with the stress and deception from my first contractor and having to pay a second contractor to finish up some of the work on my new snake room I've finally been able to move my snakes out into their new snake room and they totally love it out there with the sun and bright daylight and high humidity and all ate right away :) All of my larger snakes are out in the snake room with the exception of Chewy that has to always be close to me and in clear view of me and my smaller and younger snakes and Colubrid's enclosures are still in the main part of the house but eventually two of those stacks will be moving out into the snake room also. I've been down sick with a bad inner ear infection for over a week and that was my fault for pushing myself too hard to get things done with the high humidity and 100 degree temps a few days in a row but with lots of rest I'm feeling much better now !!
I have a large trundle bed out in the snake room so I can also sleep out in the room with my largest snakes because they are used to having a social relationship with myself and other people.
Raising snakes is an amazing and wonderful experience especially when your entire family is involved and loves spending time with your snakes and helping you take care of them so snakes can be just as big a part of someone's family as any dog or cat can be :)

Observing your snakes is the key to better being able to read and understand their body language and in spite of the fact that so many people swear that snakes have no feelings or emotions I've seen this display toward each other thousands of times !!
I'm sure there are tons of people that keep snakes that have noticed this display of a snakes body mechanics but easily dismisses this display of affection because there are so many people that deny that snakes have any feelings and that everything they do is instinct driven :(

I'm still having to partially assist feed my 4 baby Ball Pythons but have found that they can eat on their own but they prefer to be held while eating for some reason assuming they feel more secure being held and because they really had no interest in eating the rat fuzzies I decided to try them with small mice and they really had a lot of interest in eating those so for people that are having problems getting their babies or young juvenile snakes to eat I suggest offering them something different to eat instead of their usual meal items :) Snakes throughout their lives do like changes and to have things different around them and not only does it keep them from getting bored but also change is good for brain stimulation.

I apologize for being behind on posting videos but with all the work being done on the house remodeling it and adding the huge outdoor Boa enclosure and now the new big snake room addition is ready to start going up and with 20 snakes I've been super busy. Our weather has been crazy either too hot to take the snakes outdoors or either pouring rain and thunderstorms so I don't take my snakes out unless our temperature and weather is rather stable and predictable :o)

This has been a wonderful experience teaching my daughter Carla Jr. to assist feed baby snakes and she's really picked it up fast and is a natural at it so I'm VERY proud of her. I have been asked about how the 4 baby Ball Pythons are still doing they are all getting big and strong and are eating just fine and they certainly are beautiful snakes, all 4 of my new boys, Tommie, Nemo, Quinn and Calypso :o) I figure possibly one more partial assist feeding and they will be eating independently on their own and then how fast they will grow :) It's important to be patient with your snakes so you don't stress them out because a stressed out young snake can be reason that it may refuse food and be reluctant to attempt to eat !! Normally these young snakes would be eating on their own but having been handled they have realized that they enjoy exploring and being active so it's become a challenge to keep them still and focused on eating instead of roaming around once out of their enclosure. As much as I've hated to I've had to refrain from handling them as often so they can be more focused on eating and once they are all eating independently then once again I can invest more quality time handling them and bonding with them :)

I always started out handling my baby snakes at an early age once they are well established eating and I can see their curiosity growing to watch everything going on around them and when they start pacing and wanting to come out I take them out for short handling sessions so they can learn to trust you and they realize in time that they are safe being close to you and doing this on a regular basis a couple of days a week you will eventually notice that they display a LOT of interest in wanting to come out of their enclosures to explore their environment around them outside of their enclosures and the exercise and exposure is good for them because the more active they are the better eaters they are and they grow into strong healthy snakes.
My one rule is if I see any of my snakes displaying signs of stress then I put them back into their enclosures so they will feel secure :) When snakes are active that doesn't mean they are stressed out being acvtive is how snakes act out in the wild so there is no reason to assume that active snakes means stressed out snakes because there is a VERY distinct difference between the two meanings. Snakes will seldom learn to trust you if they spend all of their time locked inside of their enclosure :(

You cannot TAME a snake because humans don't have the capacity to deprive snakes of their natural instincts but snakes can be socialized through handling !! Don't be afraid to talk to your snakes even though they may not always understand what you are saying they recognize your voice :o) They also relate to your heartbeat, your pulse and your scent and they recognize your touch!!
